Machinery Street Gallery art installation

Close Knit by Millie Radovic

Professional art installation of interior space exhibition at Artisan, Machinery Street Gallery, 45 King Street, Bowen Hills.

Title: Close Knit
The radical yet problematic promotion of woman’s traditional arts in textiles enables a distancing from an aesthetics of the purely visual, but also provides a strategy for mobilising textiles as a weapon of resistance an inculcated feminine ideal.

The irrepressible 78 year old Fortitude Valley resident, Millie Radovic, takes her knitting and crocheting into the immersive installation realm. Millie's small works are unique and offbeat, and she is a regular and popular contributor to the artisan shop. In this Machinery Street Gallery exhibition, Millie goes big with an installation that will transport you into another world.

Collaborating with Cassandra Lehman, curator of Artisan and fine art student interns we transformed a black, empty exhibition space into an interior space to showcase Millie's still unique art pieces that burst into a colourful, living art installation.
